Native animals. We need to learn about the unique biology of these animals - in what ways their bodies work differently from other animals of a similar type. With endangered species, this also means learning about what special conditions (e.g. providing particular foods) must be met to enable them to reproduce successfully. Our unique native animals include the Bellbirds, Kakapo, Kea, Kereru, Kiwi, Tui, and Weka, and Tuatara, geckos and skinks.
